Set Up the Ikhou Browser Extension
Install the Ikhou Companion to look up words on any page and save them straight to your review queue — without leaving what you're reading or watching.

Save a word and its sentence in one click. It's queued for review in Ikhou instantly.
Setup

Install from the Chrome Web Store
Go to the Ikhou Companion listing and click "Add to Chrome" (the button reads "Add to Edge" or "Add to Brave" if you're using one of those instead).

Pin it to your toolbar
Click the puzzle-piece icon in your browser toolbar, find Ikhou Companion, and click the pin so it's always one click away.

Sign in to your Ikhou account
Open the extension and sign in with the same email you use on ikhou.com. An account is required — the extension needs somewhere to save your words.

Choose your target language
Pick the language (or languages) you're learning so lookups and saved words go to the right track.

Start capturing
Click any word on a page, or a subtitle word on a supported video site, and hit "Add to SRS". It shows up in your review queue with the full sentence attached.

On your phone?
Mobile browsers don't support desktop-style extensions at all, on iOS or Android. Install Ikhou as an app on your phone instead — same account, same review queue, just without on-page lookup. See the app install guide

Do I need an Ikhou account?
Yes. The extension needs somewhere to save your words, so it's tied to your Ikhou account — sign in with the same email you use on ikhou.com.
Which sites does it work on?
Inline word lookup works on any website, including PDFs you open in your browser. Clickable subtitle overlays work specifically on YouTube, Netflix, Vimeo, Crunchyroll, and Prime Video.
What data does it collect?
Just what it needs to work: the words you look up and their sentence context, and the domain (not the full URL) where a lookup happened. It doesn't track general browsing, and it doesn't run on pages where you never use the lookup feature.
Can I use it on my phone?
Not directly — mobile browsers don't support extensions. Install Ikhou as an app on your phone instead for the same account and review queue.
How do I remove it?
Open your browser's extensions page (chrome://extensions, or the puzzle-piece icon in the toolbar), find Ikhou Companion, and click Remove.
